The Handwriting Assessment Workshop will provide all the training necessary for you to assess a range of developmental levels.

Please bring a small calculator to this workshop. Calculators on your phone are acceptable.

The Handwriting Assessment Workshop is an advanced level class.

Handwriting Assessment Objectives
  • Administer and score the Pre-K assessments, the Screener of Handwriting Proficiency, and The Print Tool® and choose remediation materials and strategies based on results
  • Describe the seven basic handwriting components essential to handwriting success
  • Understand different handwriting curricula, discover new handwriting resources, and use The Print Tool with various populations
  • Identify the benefits and process of becoming a certified handwriting specialist for evidence-based practice

8:00 a.m. Understanding Handwriting Curricula: Become a knowledgeable handwriting consumer. Compare handwriting curricula.
Pre-K Readiness & Writing Assessment and The Screener of Handwriting Proficiency: Understand a developmental approach to assessing handwriting skills. Identify handwriting components that define handwriting legibility. Use results to enhance handwriting lessons, remediate or administer further testing.
Preview The Print Tool: Learn about forms and materials. Develop a functional approach to understanding how and when to administer The Print Tool.

Utilize the Print Tool manual, Student Worksheets for Capitals/Numbers and Lowercase, Transparent Measuring Tool and Evaluation Scoresheet. Calculate scores.

From Tampa/St. Petersburg: Take I-275 North to I-4 East and then take Exit 62 (417 North Expressway - a Toll Road). Take 417 North to exit 17. At the end of the ramp, make a left and head towards the Orlando International Airport. Follow the signs to Hyatt Valet Parking or Hyatt Self-Parking.

From Sarasota / Ft. Myers / Naples: Take I-75 North to I-4 East and then take Exit 62 (417 North Expressway - Toll Road). Take 417 North to exit 17. From Gainesville/Ocala: Take I-75 South to the Florida Turnpike South. Take the Florida Turnpike South to Exit 254 (528 East / Beach Line Expressway - Toll Road). Go through two tollbooths and take exit 11 to the Orlando International Airport. Follow the signs to Hyatt Valet Parking or Hyatt Self-Parking.

From Jacksonville/Daytona Beach: Take I-95 South to I-4 West. Take I-4 west to Exit 72 (528 East / Beach Line Expressway - Toll Road). Go through two tollbooths and take exit 11 to the Orlando International Airport. Follow the signs to Hyatt Valet Parking or Hyatt Self-Parking.

Parking: Attendees will receive complimentary parking for the event, however, overnight guests will still need to pay the overnight rate. Call the workshop venue for more information regarding parking availability and fees.

For Self-Parking: Enter the Terminal B self-parking area and follow the signs for Hyatt Terminal Top Parking. From Terminal Top Parking, enter the hotel at level 4. If necessary, use elevators located on the B side to get to level 4. Because of heightened security, terminal top parking may not always be available. If that is the case, proceed to the hotel through the airport terminal.

Discounted Hotel Parking and the EPASS: Hotel guests that are staying for the day only or overnight need to enter the self-parking garage in Terminal B. Do not enter through the EPASS lane; you must enter and receive a ticket in order to receive the discounted hotel parking rates.

We will then email you workshop details 10 days prior to the workshop date. If you do not have access to an email account, we will mail you your receipt and workshop details 10 days prior to the workshop date.
