Join us to learn all about Keyboarding Without Tears®!

This half-day workshop will teach you how to easily weave keyboarding into your K-5 day. You'll leave with a library of award-winning teaching strategies to help your students succeed with today's computer-based assignments and testing.

This is an interactive Bring Your Own Laptop workshop; however, it is not a requirement.

This is an intermediate level workshop.

K-5 Keyboarding Objectives
  • Learn the developmental progression of keyboarding skills to ensure elementary student success
  • Review student lessons and learn how to add them into your teaching and computer-based testing prep
  • Maximize the following educator resources to foster success: lesson previews, reports, and digital citizenship lessons
  • Use student progress reports to help students meet grade-level benchmarks
  • Understand and share research and standards to support keyboarding and academic success

7:30 a.m. Registration: Coffee and pastries
8:00 a.m. Production of Writing: Research and standards supporting strong keyboarding and handwriting foundational skills
Comparison of Handwriting and Keyboarding: Similarities, differences, and developmental progression of both
Digital Citizenship: Learn how to teach children about digital information, protection, behavior, and communication
Foundational Skills: Experience multisensory teacher-led lessons that introduce the keyboard
Keyboarding: Actively teach features of the keyboard as well as technology foundational skills, and typing skills
Instruction: Review keyboarding lesson previews for planning instruction
Resources: Remediation Tips, School-to-Home Connections, additional resources for continued learning
12:30 p.m. Adjourn: Certificate of Attendance for 4.5 Contact Hours

From Interstate 4 East from Orlando: Take I-4 West to Exit 72-Beachline Expressway (which is also known as State Road 528). Then take the International Drive / Sea World exit (Exit 1). Go through the light. The DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld is on the left.

From Interstate 4 West from Tampa: Take I-4 East to Exit 72-Beachline Expressway (which is also known as 528). Then take the International Drive / Sea World exit (Exit 1). Go through the light. The DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld is on the left.

From The Orlando International Airport (MCO): Take the Beachline Expressway west to the International Drive / SeaWorld exit. Turn left (south on International Drive). The DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld is on the right, at the next traffic light.

Parking: $5 discounted rate for attendees. Call the workshop venue for more information regarding parking availability and fees.

Policy/Contacts

Register online and provide us with your email address and we will email you a confirmation and receipt when we process your registration. We will then email you workshop details 10 days prior to the workshop date. If you do not have access to an email account, we will mail you your receipt and workshop details 10 days prior to the workshop date.

Learning Without Tears reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time, including but not limited to, lack of participation or trainer availability. Registrants will not be charged for the course.

Learning Without Tears reserve the right to use all media from this workshop (photos, videos, etc.) in print and online advertising. Please notify us in writing if you do not wish to be included. You must be 18 years or older to attend our professional workshops. Children and infants may not be brought to workshops.

You may cancel up to ten days prior for a $35 cancellation fee.
