Ashley Macken, MAT, Ed.S.
Ashley is currently a special education teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. She has worked with students of all abilities that vary in age from Pre-K to third grade and this is her ninth year in the public education system. She has Bachelor’s Degrees in both Early Childhood and Special Education that she earned at the University of North Georgia. She then went on to earn her Master’s and Specialist Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction. Ashley was named the Hall County Teacher of the Year in 2013 and was a top 20 finalist for Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia. Ashley was so inspired by what Handwriting Without Tears was doing for her students that after attending a workshop herself, she pursued a career with HWT. She loves sharing how the Handwriting Without Tears Program can reach every type of learner and uses it in her own classroom on a daily basis. Aside from her roles as teacher and presenter, Ashley is also a wife and mother. She and her husband, Tim, started their family in 2016 with the addition of their daughter, Shea, and their Golden Retriever, Charlie.
