Shipping & Delivery
We use a variety of methods to ship our orders. We consider delivery time and order weight in choosing the most efficient carrier.
U.S. Shipping and Handling Rates
- Subtotal under $65: add $6.50
- Subtotal over $65: add 10% of subtotal
AK, HI, APO/FPO, and U.S. Territories Shipping and Handling Rates
20% of subtotal ($7.50 minimum)
Canada Shipping and Handling Rates
10% of item subtotal; $14 minimum (includes customs, duties and brokerage fees)
International Shipping (excluding Canada)
You will be contacted via email by Customer Service with a specific shipping charge quote for your order. Customer is responsible for customs, duties, and taxes.
- U.S. and U.S. Territories: 7-10 business days
- APO/FPO: Up to 15 business days
- Canada: 7-10 business days
- Other International: Approximately 15 business days
Business days do not include weekends or holidays.
You can have your order's processing expedited for an additional $10 fee. Expedited processing ensures that your order will be processed and shipped the next morning if we receive the order no later than 2:00 p.m. EST. If you request expedited processing on an order we receive after 2:00 p.m. EST, your order will be processed and shipped the next business day. No changes to your order can be made after 2:00 p.m. EST, because the order will have been sent to the warehouse for shipping. Delivery time for expedited order processing is 3-5 business days.
Learning Without Tears must receive confirmation that the customer approves the additional $10 fee for expedited processing. The customer may:
- Contact customer service at 301.263.2700 to verbally confirm request.
- Send an email to customerservice@LWTears.com to request expedited processing; email should include written note from customer authorizing the additional $10 fee.
- For online orders, customer may include a written comment on the order authorizing the additional $10 fee for expedited processing. If you place your online order between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. EST M–F, you need to call customer service at 301.263.2700 to ensure you meet the same-day expedited processing deadline. Otherwise, the online order will be processed the next business day.
International customers: we cannot guarantee an earlier delivery date with expedited processing because the time needed to clear customs varies.
You are not able to submit an online order that will ship to multiple destinations. You may either enter a separate online order for each shipping address, or you may submit a purchase order via fax or mail showing the items to ship to each address.
All online orders will show tax charges. If you are tax exempt, enter the tax exempt number in the online order comments with a note that states that you are tax exempt and are sending in your tax exempt certificate. Then follow up with a fax of the tax-exempt certificate to 301.263.3017 or scan and email to taxdepartment@LWTears.com. Please be sure to note the online order's reference order ID so that we can locate your order. We will make sure that if we have the proper tax exempt information, we will not charge you tax.
Returns and Exchanges
Handwriting Without Tears® will accept returns within three months of the customer’s order date. All returned items must be in unused, saleable condition. Each return must include:
- A copy of the packing slip or the returns processing form, with the item(s) and quantity being returned marked
- Reason for return (damage, wrong item, duplicate, other)
- Your request for an account credit, refund, or exchange

You will receive a full refund for each item returned in unused, saleable condition. You should expect to receive your refund within 4 weeks of receipt of your return.
Digital Product Refunds
Handwriting Without Tears will grant refunds on digital products within the first three months of the customer's order date for products that have not been activated. You should expect your refund within 4 weeks.
